Welcome to dance and movement classes for ages walking - 2 year olds.
Using the progressive Little Bear Feet, Melody Movement and Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves syllabi from Melody Movement®, we introduce little ones to the magical world of dancing and singing.
Our dance class with Melody Bear® is an enchanting introduction to dance for girls and boys using nursery rhymes, music, miming, and props.
Parents will take part in the class with their tiny dancer.

Our Melody Bear® dance class is the perfect introduction to dance and movement for little girls and boys.
The joys of dancing and singing are shared by teacher, parent and toddler, as together we join Melody Bear® and Milligan Bear®, in their journey to Nursery Rhyme Land. How will she get there? Will it be by aeroplane, car, or flying carpet? Who will she meet? Will it be Humpty Dumpty, or Mary Mary Quite Contrary?
Delightful interpretations of traditional, familiar nursery rhymes, together with new music and songs, inspire children's natural zest for dance, movement, and self-expression. The use of props, mime, songs and rhymes, enrich and charm the budding dancers as they take their first steps into the magical world of Melody Movement with Melody Bear®.

Early Learning syllabi
Melody Movement® Early Learning is a creative teaching curriculum of movement, dance, tap and modern, created in 2006. Melody Movement® Early Learning Ltd is a CPD Affiliate of the CDMT - Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre. CDMT is the quality assurance and membership body for the professional dance, drama and musical theatre industries in the United Kingdom. CDMT was founded in 1979.
In our baby ballet classes at Saddleworth Ballet School, children progress through the Little Bear Feet syllabi, to Level 1 Melody Movement with Melody Bear and Level 1 Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves with Melody Bear syllabi. The syllabi also complements the EYFS - Early Years Foundation Stage. This includes the three prime areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; Physical Development and the characteristics of learning: Playing and Exploring; Active Learning; Creating and Thinking Critically. The Melody Movement® syllabi also introduces children to other fundamental curriculum learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills. In addition, children learn to work individually, with a partner, or as a group.
The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement that is enjoyable and fun. Melody Bear® is the focal point of the Melody Movement Early® Learning dance syllabi and her imaginative stories, music, songs and picture cards create an inspirational world of dance and movement.
The non-competitive syllabi and award schemes motivate, delight and inspire our youngest of students.
What dance and movement steps do we include in our baby and toddler ballet class?
The Little Bear Feet, and Melody Movement with Melody Bear syllabi, introduce children to dance and movement using the natural actions of the body, such as running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping.
The Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves, is a combined modern and tap syllabus. The class plan is a journey on Melody Bear’s Fun Bus stopping at the Games, Number and Musical stop. The final stop is Melody Bear’s Tip Tap Toe stop for lots of fun including the ‘Boogie Woogie Bend and Bounce’, ‘Magic Shoes’, ‘Disco Bears’, ‘Hawaiian Tap’, ‘Melody Bear’s Cheerleading Song’ and her ‘Line Dancing’, to name a few. Rhythm and tempo, beats and sounds are explored in fun creative exercises in our early years tap dancing syllabus.
